What gets repaired

Scratches, cracks in glass plates, creases, stains, dust, faded contrast and missing corners. The photo above was taken in 1934 on a glass plate that later cracked; the line across it is gone in the restored version.

When a part of the photo is missing, the AI fills it in so the picture looks whole. That part is a reconstruction, not a recovered detail, and every result carries a note saying so.

Can it restore a very damaged photo?

Usually, yes. Badly damaged areas are rebuilt by AI, so they may not match the original exactly. Small, sharp details survive best.
